Rounding Queen: Tiara-wearing nurse teaches ‘the three P’s’

Warning: These lyrics will be stuck in your head all day.

By Tom Hughes | Posted: January 4, 2012

Patient safety is no laughing matter. However, a hospital video aimed at keeping patients safe just might give you a chuckle.

The video features a chorus of nurses at Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Oregon singing and dancing to the tune of ABBA’s mid-70s disco hit, “Dancing Queen.” The words have been changed, of course, to tell a tale about how the nurses “round” with their patients at least once an hour to check on “the three P’s: Pain, Potty, and Position.”

“This continued rounding keeps our patients safe and comfortable,” according to Adventist Health’s description of the video on YouTube.

The star of the video is nurse Marie Pieren, whom the other nurses crown with a tiara.

Then she becomes—wait for it—the Rounding Queen!
