Sherman Health in Elgin, Ill. is taking a light-hearted approach to promoting National Heart Month through a social media campaign called “28 Days to a Healthier Heart.” The campaign promotes heart disease education, prevention and screenings.
Each day in the month of February, Sherman is sharing a healthy heart tip from a physician, staff member, or volunteer that consumers can easily incorporate into their daily routines, such as “Catch some ZZZ’s” and “Slow the Salt”. The tip is shared using Facebook and Twitter with links to a brief article on the Sherman Health Blog. Blog posts expound on the tips, and all 28 tips are collected in a printable calendar.
The campaign also features this video. It that follows a couple getting preventative Healthy Heart CT scans to show how quick, easy, and painless it is.
The campaign’s call-to-action encourages men ages 40-65 and women ages 45-70 to get a preventative Healthy Heart CT scan and discuss their results with their primary care physician. If consumers don’t have a primary care physician, Sherman helps connect them with one. Consumers can easily request a screening appointment online at ShermanHealth.com/HeartScan.
The social media campaign is also supported through minimal newspaper advertising, geo-targeted Google pay-per-click text and display ads, and heart-related community wellness classes.
In the first week of the campaign’s launch, Sherman Health’s Facebook reach increased an average of 26 percent and its Twitter impressions increased an average of 154 percent. The blog’s page views increased significantly in the first week as well.
The key measure of the campaign’s success will be determined by the number of Healthy Heart CT screenings completed in the next three months as compared to previous years.
