‘Germinators’ rap against hospital-acquired conditions
Three doctors and two nurses don shades, black tees, and bandanas in this fun video about a serious topic.

When Bob Allen, vice president of communication and governmental relations at Crouse Hospital in Syracuse, New York, wrote to us to tell us about a video that several Crouse doctors and nurses created about hospital-acquired conditions, he wrote:
It’s nothing fancy, was done on pretty much a zero budget, and may be considered a touch goofy. The idea came out of the fertile and fun
imagination of one of our key physicians, Dr. Mickey Lebowitz, who leads many of Crouse Hospital’s quality efforts around the reduction of
hospital-acquired conditions…Hence the new rallying cry at Crouse: HAC NO!
Dr. Lebowitz wanted to engage our 2,700 employees in these initiatives, as everyone has a role in patient safety, but wanted to do it using humor.
The Crouse Germinators is the result. The really cool thing about it, for me, is the fact that it was a doctor’s idea, and he was able to engage
other well-regarded docs in the project, along with two advanced practice (male) nurses.
Would love to hear what you think!
It made us smile. Take a look for yourself.

Editor’s note:
As we were about to publish this story, we received another message from Allen. The Germinators aren’t just catching the attention of hospital staff.
The local newspaper got wind of the video and shared this
op-ed piece
on Syracuse.com.
