Stress-related health care and missed work cost employers $300 billion each year.

From moodiness and agitation to heart problems and infertility, stress takes its toll on almost half of us.


The causes vary from chemical or emotional to nutritional or traumatic. Everything from long work hours to media overload to childhood traumatic grief can play a part.

As much as 80 or 90 percent of disease may be stress-related. And, yes, public relations is listed among the top 10 stress-related careers.

The US is second only to South Africa in a list of most stressful countries, but there’s good news for Americans living in the Chicago suburb of Naperville, Ill. It’s listed as the least stressful US city.
