Infographic: The rise of patient engagement online

By the end of 2019, more than half of U.S. health systems will offer digital self-scheduling. The value: $3.2 billion for providers.

Patients want convenience and more control over their health care activities. Health systems are stepping up their efforts to deliver what consumers want.

Accenture’s infographic says the implementation of self-scheduling tools is exploding because:

  • More than three-quarters (77 percent) of patients value the ability to book, change or cancel appointments online.

  • Nearly two-thirds (63 percent) of patient phone calls are transferred.

  • The average time for a patient to complete a scheduling call is eight minutes.
