Tech devices risk patient data breaches

Hackers are targeting wearables and personal fitness trackers that are linked to hospitals. What can providers do to minimize these cyberspace intrusions?    

Nearly 40 percent of patients say they are reluctant to use health and wellness devices associated with hospitals.

The reason? Some 94 percent of health care organizations have fallen victim to cyberattacks.

  • Wearables, including fitness trackers

  • Implanted devices, such as insulin pumps

  • Hospital equipment, including X-ray machines
